2026 IAR CE FinPro Reporting FAQs
-
What's the most frequently asked IAR CE question from advisors?
The most frequently asked question we get from IARs is: "Why aren't my NASAA IAR CE credits showing up in FinPro?"
The most frequent answer is that the IA rep did not enter their CRD number in our database, entered it incorrectly, or used a different name when they signed up for Advisors4Advisors and filled in the account Profile data from what is officially recorded.
Your name, middle name, initial, or suffixes should be identical to what's in the IAPD, which reflects what is filed by your firm in a Form U4. -
When will my A4A IAR CE credits show up in FinPro?
Advisors4Advisors uploads IAR CE completions to FinPro Monday mornings by 10 a.m. ET. After a submission is made, FinPro usually processes it within 48 hours, but it could take another day or two at the end of the year. Point is, posting to your transcript in FinPro is not immediate and timing can vary depending on exactly when you take a class. In mid December, Advisors4Advisors uploads new course completion data spreadsheets more often than once a week.

I completed a course recently—why isn’t it in FinPro yet?
Course completion confirms eligibility for credit, but FinPro posting occurs only after provider submission and FINRA processing. A delay between completion and appearance in FinPro is normal, especially during high-volume periods.
-
Why are some A4A classes showing in FinPro but others taken around the same time are missing? Why are some A4A classes showing in FinPro but others taken around the same time are missing?
This can occur when different course completions fall into separate reporting batches or when a submission file is still processing. During processing, some credits may appear before others even if courses were taken close together.
-
How often does A4A upload IAR CE completions to FinPro?
Advisors4Advisors submits IAR CE completion data every Monday, usually by 10 a.m. ET. After submission, FINRA/FinPro processing time determines when credits appear in individual adviser records.
-
Can I submit my IAR CE credits to FINRA myself?
No. IAR CE credits can be reported by NASAA-approved IAR CE providers. Individual advisers and firms are not able to upload and self-report IAR CE completions to FinPro. Making CE providers responsible for reporting IAR completions significantly lowers the cost of regulating IAR CE, making NASAA's system much less costly to maintain than education systems deployed by professional designations relying on self-reporting by individual practitioners.
-
Do I need to upload certificates or take action in FinPro?
No. Certificates confirm course completion but do not submit credits to FinPro. Advisors should monitor their FinPro account once a quarter, but reporting is handled by Advisors4Advisors as the CE provider.
-
Can A4A re-submit credits if something doesn’t post correctly?
Yes. If a valid completion does not appear after normal processing time and we have your correct CRD information, Advisors4Advisors can review the record and, if appropriate, re-submit the credits.

How can I earn credit from multiple CE and CPE regulators simultaneously by taking one class?
Advisors4Advisors is designed to make uniform the idiosyncratic differences in education requirements imposed on CFP, CIMA, CPA and IAR practitioners. The various regulators are different from one another but not dissimilar. They uniformly require 50-minutes per credit, a 70% passing grade on an assessment, and measurable learning objectives (LOs). But the rules of each regulator are slightly different. NASAA requires IARs respond to one engagement activity per credit, while NASBA/AICPA standards require three. Advisors4Advisors recommends all users complete three engagement activities at a live class.
-
What is an unscored engagement exercise?
Depending on whether a class is experienced live or on-demand, you may be asked to take an unscored exercises in different formats.
Three polls pop up at live webinars, while an automated question and answer exercise is one of the steps in completing an on-demand webinar.
A 1-credit on-demand class on AdvisorsAdvisors typically requires completing three questions and answers that contain feedback explaining briefly why three of the four answer choices are incorrect, as well as an explanation for the correct answer. -
How do I complete a professional education class on Advisor4Advisors?
Each on demand class is comprised of five sequential steps, starting with some general instructions and concluding with a survey. A left-side menu of your browser guides you through the steps required to earn a completion certificate:
1. Instructions
2. Instructor presentation video
3. Engagement Exercise
4. Scored assessment
5. Satisfaction survey
Complete all five steps and score 70% or higher to earn a class completion certificate on-demand anytime.
LIVE classes work the same way. However, live classes do not require passing an assessment.
Live participation replaces the need for testing.
CPAs are required to submit answers to three polls during live classes but your answers are unscored.
IARs must answer at least one of the three polls. But we recommend IARs also answer all three polls. -
After a live class, where can I find my completion certificate?
If you attended a live 1-credit webinar for at least 50 minutes and submitted answers to the three polls, you’ll be automatically enrolled in a separate "certificate-only" class in one to three days. The certificate-only class contains no lessons or questions; its sole purpose is to deliver your certificate of completion for the class.

2026 NASAA IAR CE FAQ
-
How long does it take for IAR CE credit to appear in my FinPro account?
If a NASAA Course ID number has already been assigned to the class, it could take up to 10 days to appear in your FinPro transcript. NASAA says it could take up to 30 days to review a class and assign its Course ID number. But it usually takes about two weeks to review a class. After you complete a class successfully, which includes passing an assessment for on-demand credit, Advisors4Advisors will upload IAR CRD data to FinPro the following Monday morning. FinPro usually takes two days to process the data. Thus, after a live class, don’t expect a certificate to show up for at least 30 days. Credits are submitted by Advisors4Advisors on your behalf when an ID number for an IAR CE class is received by Advisors4Advisors from NASAA.
-
How can an IAR know how many credits they've earned?
IARs must monitor credits they've earned by logging into their FinPro account. To sign up for a FinPro account, see the User Guide and Video Tutorial by going to https://www.finra.org/registration-exams-ce/finpro to create an account Advisors4Advisors submits IAR CE rosters to the IAR CE system. We increase the frequency of uploads of CRD rosters to FINRA in the three weeks before FINRA shuts down the FinPro system in mid- to late-December every year.
-
Why are on-demand webinar replays the best delivery method for IAR CE?
Advisors4Advisors provides members with a Learning Management System (LMS), delivering CE and CPE via webinars. Each class is a NASAA-compliant TV show with required engagement activities and a scored assessment, which provides CE/CPE that financial advisors want. A4A has offered reading assignments as CE/CPE, which arguably offer a deeper, more personal, CE/CPE learning experience. Reading enables you to absorb information at your own pace, rather than at the instructor's pace in a live webinar, where you cannot stop and pause to hear what an instructor just said for a second time -- slowly. However, That's not what advisors want! Advisors want webinars. Perhaps they're brains are just attracted to learning by watching a screen instead of reading -- even if it is reading content presented on a screen. There's just one big wrinkle: NASAA does not grant IAR CE credit for merely watching webinars, unlike the CFP Board, NASBA, and IWI. NASAA requires IARs to participate in an engagement activity, such as a poll, and, more importantly, requires IARs pass a scored assessment with a grade of at least 70% to earn credit after watching a webinar. Advisors4Advisors makes that part easy.
-
How do I earn IAR CE credit?
To earn IAR CE credit, you must first update your A4A Profile to include your Investment Adviser Representative (IAR) Central Registration Depository (CRD) number. A4A submits course completion records to the FINRA-maintained CRD system within 30 days. A4A pays NASAA’s $3 recordkeeping fee per credit. It's included with membership. To earn credit after attending live classes or replaying a webinar, you must simply attend a 1-credit class for at least 50 minutes and participate in an unscored exercise, such as a poll. You will also need to pass a 10-question multiple choice assessment and score a 70% grade or higher. If you fail three assessment attempts, you must re-register and wait a day to attempt to pass assessment again, as well as the exercise. Does my A4A membership include free IAR CE?
Yes, it does. If you are an active member of Advisors4Advisors, IAR CE is now free to you. NASAA charges A4A $3 to upload a record of how many credits you earn. A4A is eating that cost. IAR CE is free when you buy an A4A membership, which provides CFP, CIMA, and CPA credit at a 33% discount as well as AR CE at no additional cost. Hence, free. For practitioners searching for discounts on high-quality CE or CPE, A4A membership now includes free IAR CE.

-
If I complete an IAR CE course in December, will it still count for the current year?
Yes. Credits are based on the course completion date, not the FinPro posting date. A course completed before A4A's last upload on Dec. 26 at 12 ET remain eligible for 2025 credit even if it may not appear in FinPro in 2026 due to processing and maintenance delays.
-
Why do year-end IAR CE credits sometimes take longer to appear in FinPro?
December is the highest-volume period for IAR CE reporting. Increased submission volume and system maintenance can slow processing, causing credits to appear later than usual.
-
Should I be concerned if my December IAR CE credits are not visible in FinPro yet?
Not necessarily. A delay during year-end processing is common. As long as the course was completed on time and properly reported by the provider, the credit will post once processing is complete. Read the rest of the FAQs and be sure your profile in Advisors4Advisors contains your CRD number and the exact name you used to register as IAR. NASAA's IAR CE requirements and recordkeeping system started in 2022 in three states and now has been adopted in 24 states, regulating about 200,000 state-registered IARs.
-
Do I need to contact FINRA or NASAA if my year-end credits are delayed?
No. IAR CE credits are reported by the CE provider. Advisers should not contact FINRA or NASAA directly about posting delays. Advisors4Advisors can review reporting status if credits do not appear after processing.
-
Do certificates protect me if my credits post after year-end?
Certificates confirm timely course completion. While certificates are not uploaded to FinPro, they serve as documentation that the course was completed before the deadline if questions arise during processing delays. Consider setting up a way to share course completion certificates on your firm's website and your personal social profiles. Commenting on a course about ethical practices, for example, reflects well on your brand.
