LIVE IAR, CFP, CIMA, CPWA, RMA & CPA Credit

Tuesday, September 22, 2026, 4 p.m. ET

Live Class: Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 4 p.m. ET

AI can accelerate spreadsheet cleanup and financial-planning analysis—but only when advisors define the assignment, protect confidential information, preserve the original source data, and validate every result. In this live, hands-on class, Craig Turner uses an entirely synthetic financial-planning workbook to show how imperfect household and portfolio data can become useful, reviewable planning information.

The fictional workbook includes households, family information, income, investment accounts, holdings, other assets, liabilities, goals, assumptions, follow-up tasks, a client dashboard, and a 20-year portfolio projection. It also contains deliberately planted defects such as duplicate records, missing information, inconsistent dates and classifications, incorrect totals, mismatched account balances, conflicting risk profiles, missing beneficiaries, allocation errors, and overdue follow-ups.

Attendees will see a practical workflow for preserving source data, creating a working copy, finding and documenting exceptions, standardizing and reconciling records, building formula-driven QA checks, assembling a selected-household dashboard, and reviewing a projection based on documented assumptions. The emphasis is on disciplined spreadsheet work, privacy, auditability, and human review—not AI theory.

The live class is available for $39.99 or is included with A4A Membership. Learners must sign in to A4A to participate. Any CE/CPE credit remains subject to applicable approval and attendance requirements.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this class, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain how to define the desired spreadsheet assignment, required inputs, and expected outputs before involving AI.
  2. Demonstrate the use of synthetic data and remove or protect confidential client information before submitting spreadsheet data to AI.
  3. Preserve the original source data and create a separate working copy for cleaning, analysis, and documentation.
  4. Combine household, person, income, account, holding, asset, liability, and goal information using consistent identifying fields.
  5. Standardize names, dates, capitalization, classifications, percentages, currencies, and other inconsistent values.
  6. Identify duplicates, missing fields, conflicts, allocation errors, stale information, and overdue tasks.
  7. Reconcile holdings with account balances and calculate personal income, household income, investable assets, liabilities, dependents, and net worth.
  8. Build a selected-household dashboard showing net worth, income, dependents, spending, contributions, savings rate, risk profile, and allocation.
  9. Create a formula-driven portfolio projection using documented assumptions for contributions, retirement spending, Social Security, pensions, inflation, and returns.
  10. Validate AI-assisted spreadsheet work, document unresolved exceptions, preserve an audit trail, and determine when source information or human review is required.

Who Should Attend

IARs, CFP® professionals, CPA financial planners, CPA/PFS professionals, CIMA® professionals, CFA charterholders, and other financial professionals who want a practical, privacy-conscious workflow for using AI with spreadsheet-based planning data.

As founder of Momentum and co-founder of Momentum AI, Craig specializes in helping chambers of commerce, small businesses, nonprofits, and financial professionals harness AI as a strategic tool — not a shortcut. His practical, engaging approach to teaching demystifies AI by focusing on usable data, ethical implementation, and scalable productivity enhancements. In addition to his consulting work, Craig serves as the interim executive for the Niagara USA Chamber of Commerce, giving him hands-on experience in operational leadership and economic development. His commitment to staying ahead of the curve — and helping others do the same — is evident in his philosophy: AI is not about getting things off your plate; it’s about doing everything better. Craig actively shares insights on LinkedIn, encouraging professionals to connect, not just follow, and continue learning beyond the classroom.
