Cleaning your computer will help keep it running at tip top shape, helping you get the most out of this machine.

Here are some helpful tips to clean your computer:

1.  Clean the keyboard.  First make sure your computer is turned off.  You can then take a cleaning solution (typically any one that you have will do), spray a paper towel and wipe down the keys.  Next you can take a can of compressed air and spray it between the keys.

2.  Clean the mouse.  Similar to the keyboard cleaning, you can use a cleaning solution sprayed on a paper towel to wipe down the mouse.  This can also be used to clean the pads on the underside of the mouse.  If your mouse has a ball, you can gently remove the cover and give the ball and the bottom of the mouse a good wipe.  If your mouse has an LED light you can insert a cotton swab gently in the area by the LED light.

3.  Remove unused programs.  This will help your computer run faster and free up space.  To pull up a list of programs on your computer (using Windows) select Start, Settings, Control Panel and double-click on Add/Remove Programs. If you're using Windows XP Professional, follow these steps, Start, Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs.  You can then go through the list of programs and the ones you don’t use you can highlight and select remove.

4.  Free up disk space.  Windows has a great tool to help with this.  All you have to do is select Start, Programs (All Programs in Windows XP Professional), Accessories, System Tools, Disk Cleanup, and follow the prompts.
